This project, delivered in collaboration with SkyWay Youth Charity, aimed to provide the Turkish community with up-to-date Covid 19 information, vaccinations, and test centres. The outreach worker visited various markets, restaurants, and shops frequented by the Turkish speaking community to deliver face-to-face information about the latest government messages on vaccination and testing.
The project officer distributed leaflets and gathered the community’s views and concern about the vaccination and its real or perceived side effects; we then reported back to Public Health so that they could develop strategies to address people’s concerns on vaccine hesitancy. We continuously kept in touch with Public Health and Volunteer Centre Hackney and sent weekly report and attended meetings.
We collaborated with Hackney Council’s operations unit on Covid19 test kits to be delivered from our centre to the community. We distributed these kits both to our service users and the markets/restaurants/shops the outreach worker visited.
